His partner was Alan Wilson, whose stunt performer father was murdered at a stunt rehearsal. After that crime was was committed, Gary and Alan secretly invented sleep darts, dart explosives a weapons belt with a nunchaku and a dart shaped hover craft capable of flying. Gary wore a costume with a helmet and voice modulator with the weapons and Dart Craft and became the new Dartman to catch the murder suspect. In 2013, the original Dartman comic book was reprinted in Monty's World Special #1: Dartman, released on digital on April 17th, and in print on May 19th. It was published by Will Lill Comics under the direction of Warren (T.W.) Montgomery, who drew the same comic book in 1990. Two years later, in June 2015, the Dartman origin story was retold in Adventures of Dartman #1. It was released on digital on June 18th, and in print on the following day. This time, Gary Gifford, his wife Tracy, and their children Allison and Roger formed their own detective agency Gifford Investigations.
